I am constantly in awe at the beauty of our human bodies. As an adolescent that struggled with self-confidence, this niche in photography has given me the courage to be myself, express myself and Love myself like never before.
Today, my self-portrait work is the work that I am most proud to share. Now, 3-4 years after my camera purchase (2018) I clearly see the growth and evolution of my photography, most evident in my self-portraiture. It took months to find my first opportunity to work with a model as a photographer and I used this time to practice, using myself as the model. I have a need for ‘control’ in my work and after this project I decided to become a photographer and continue expanding my art.
I commissioned a body-painter, photographer and a second model for my ‘BodyMap’ project – topographic contour lines painted onto the human body in its raw form. Following my graduate degree in Design in 2017, I still felt a need to create.
